How to play Versus
Versus is a real-time 1v1 puzzle duel. Here is everything you need to win one.
The duel
- Find an opponent. Tap Play for a quick match against a real player near your rating, or pick one category. If nobody is around after 15 seconds, a bot (clearly marked) steps in.
- Same puzzle, same moment. Both players see the puzzle at exactly the same time. The server keeps the clock, so nobody gets a head start.
- Fastest correct answer wins the round. Each round lasts 20 seconds. A wrong answer locks you out for a moment, so guessing doesn't pay.
- First to three wins. A match is best of five. If it's level after five rounds, sudden-death rounds decide it.
Rounds get harder as the match goes on: round 1 is a warm-up, round 5 is the toughest.
The four puzzle types

Mixed rotates through all four, one per round.
Rating and XP
Quick matches are rated: beat stronger players and your rating climbs faster. Every rated match also earns XP towards your level: 100 for a win, 50 for a draw and 25 for a loss. Matches against friends are unrated.
Energy
Each duel costs 1 energy. Energy refills by itself, 1 every 10 minutes up to 10. Need more? Watch a short optional video for +2 (up to five times a day) or get an energy pack in the Shop.
Play a friend
Tap Create under Play a friend, choose a category and share the 6-letter code. Your friend taps Join and enters it. Want another go? Tap Rematch.
